       UGBORODO SPIRITUAL HEAD,THREE OTHERS FREED



The Delta State High Court 1 sitting in Warri,has granted temporary
bail to the Spiritual head of Ugborodo Community and three others in
prison custody.

The presiding Judge,Hon.Justice.M.Umukoro, granted the four accused
persons bail on the grounds that the offences of the four Ugborodo
indigenes does not attract capital punishment but he was quick to add
that it is not to say the offences raised against the four by  the
claimants are not purnishable  offences.
 Justice Umukoro said he granted them temporary bail until otherwise
proven by the claimants  whom it said could not convince the ccourt
beyond reasonable doubts noting that that the four accused are not
serial offenders. He said the claimants  ought to have provided
materials to convince the court.

Justice Umukoro in his judgement said he granted the Spiritual head of
Ugborodo Community and the three others temporary bail with the sum of
ten million naira each and a surety each in like sum.

Justice Umukoro said the sureties must be civil servants of grade
level 14 and must present document of landed properties,evidence of
gainful employment and  letters of promotions and their international
passports before the court. He further said the four accused and their
sureties must always report to the court on daily basis.

Upon the pronouncement of the State High Court 1 Judge, Ugborodo
youths under the auspices of Ugborodo Community Network who had
beseeched the premises of the court of the court as early as 7am in
high expectations took to the streets of Warri in celebration of the
freedom of the Ugborodo spiritual  head and the three others.
Inscriptions in the placards carried by some of the youths read "we
must get oppressors out of our land" "the agberos chiefs in Itsekiri
land should be requinshed their title" " the Itsekiri youths need
justice and equity".
The youths who chanted freedom songs insulting the state
governor,Dr.Emmanuel Uduaghan,Chief Ayirimi Emami and Chief Thomas
Ereyitomi accusing them of imprisoning them for years.

Speaking exclusively to Our Senior Correspondent, the former Warri
South-West  Council Chairman, Hon.David Tonwe who described the Judgement
by the State High Court 1 as a victory for the Ugborodo
called on the youths to calm down noting that the next line of action will
soon be revealed.

As at the time of filing this report,the youths are still celebrating
the victory of the four accused.
