FASTING: A BREACH OF HUMAN RIGHTS-- Ikimi

FASTING: A BREACH OF HUMAN RIGHTS-- Ikimi

The Forum for Justice and Human Rights Defence,FJHD,has vowed to
arrest and prosecute any Pastor or church subjecting children to
fasting saying children fasting is a "breach" of their fundamental
human rights.

National Coordinator of the FJHD,Barr.Oghenejabor Ikimi made the vow
at the monthly human rights clinic held in Udu Local Government Area
of Delta on Saturday February 22,2014.

Barr. Ikimi who described children fasting as nothing but
"starvation"on the part of the children noted that they have parents
who are supposed to stand in the gap for them.

The human rights Lawyer called on Nigerians to change their mindset by
knowing their rights just as he suggested traditional oath for Public
Office holders in place of the Bible. This, according to him, will make
those in authority be afraid of "corrupt practices as death is a sure end for those who dare to breach the terms of agreement of such oath".

He also called on the Federal Government  to apologise to Nigerians for failing to
supply the 10,000 mega watts of electricity it promised and for the
power outage witnessed at the Murtala Mohammed International
Airport,Lagos. According to Barr.Ikimi,"if I set trap in Murtala
Mohammed International Airport,I fit catch big antelope",he enthused in pidgin English.

Guest lecturer at the Human Rights Clinic, Barr. Rufus Olarewaju who spoke
on "Introduction to Human Rights" noted that no one has the right to
take the life of another except the court  as the case may be.
Olarewaju who is  Lecturer at the faculty of law, Delta State
University, Oleh Campus said no one should be condemned until he is
heard pointing out “everyone is entitled to fair hearing”  just as he
called on Nigerians to be aware  of their fundamental human rights.
